Panchatantra is a collection of tales that give advice about the proper behavior of a ruler. The fable “Numskull and the Rabbit” is about the relationship between a lion named Numskull, who was the king of the forest, and the other animals. Numskull was a pride lion that was killing all the animals. One day, all the animals agreed that every day they will send him one of them to be eaten. When the rabbit’s turn came, he decided to trick the lion by telling him that there was a stronger lion than him and that he needs to stop him. The lion was fooled by the rabbit who took him to a well and he saw his reflect and fell in it. The lion died and the rabbit save all the animals of the forest to be eaten. This fable leaves the message that leaders should give a good treat to his subjects.
We have learned that if you do bad things, you do not have to expect good consequences. People make mistakes in life and that is a way to improve, but when people continue making the same mistakes because they think that it is good, at the end they will regret for doing the things that they did, for example, Numskull learned the lesson of being such a bad king. Making good things, helping other is something to be proud of because people who do that is the people that deserve respect and to be good leaders.
